You can spend all your money on skincare products, but if you don't do these things, you're probably throwing money down the drain.

    1. Get a waterproof pillow encasement.

Get a waterproof pillow encasement to protect your pillows from harboring as much bacteria, sweat, drool, sebum, fungi, and dust mites can build up inside your pillow. A pillow cover (with a laminated inside) will help keep pillows cleaner for longer by creating a nonporous barrier.

Also, some studies have shown that pillows made with certain types of natural fill, like down feathers, may absorb fewer bacteria than their synthetic counterparts. Regardless, wash pillows a few times a year and replace them eventually. Synthetic fill materials should be replaced every 6 months to 2 years, while materials like latex may last 4 years. Different guidelines exist for different pillows, but a waterproof encasement helps extend its life.

    2. Try a silk pillowcase.

Use a silk pillowcase—specifically, a mulberry silk pillowcase rated at 22 momme or higher. Due to the slippery fabric, wrinkles and hair breakage are kept to a minimum, plus It is hypoallergenic and less absorbent than cotton. Satin can have the same benefits as silk and is more affordable.

However, contrary to popular belief, satin is not a type of fabric but a specific weave used to make fabric glossy and smooth. Today's satin fabrics are made using a variety of synthetic fibers like polyester, so try to find a satin pillowcase that uses 100% cotton fibers when possible, as it can help cut down on irritation and allergens.

    3. Keep your pillowcases clean.

Change your pillowcase every 2 -3 days. Pillowcases are porous. You should use one side and the other the next night. Since silk is less absorbent, you could stretch it to four, maybe five days. Change your pillowcase more frequently if you have a lot of active breakouts, drool, or sweat.
